- English Name: Indian River Shad.
- Bengali Name: Chapila.
- Availability: The species is distributed widely in the country and known to inhabit all rivers and streams. It is also found in reservoir, haors, baors, ponds and floodplains . (Rahman 2005, Saha 2007).
